Statement

It’s a joyful, spiritual practice for me; working to capture the beauty of wildlife and nature in this wonderful medium. Both the subject and the materials really inspire me. There is always some thing new to explore and my head is always full of ideas. Commission requests keep me on my toes and challenge my abilities in a good way. I love working to transform peoples ideas into a bespoke piece of stained glass art that can be a beautiful feature in their home.

Biography

I’m a self employed artist and teacher living and working in Somerset UK. Growing up at the foot of the Mendip Hills many of my childhood days were spent exploring their magical beauty. My love of nature and peaceful green places is reflected in much of my work.

Realizing that art was a strong driving force in my life, I studied Foundation Art and Design at Weston College in the 90’s. I relished exploring different specialisms such as; illustration, fashion, textiles, printmaking and ceramics.  I then embarked on a Higher Diploma in Art and Integrating Design. During my final year I combined my studies with a stained glass course at Queens Road School of Art in Bristol. I had finally found my preferred medium that I wanted to specialize in. I fell in love with the jewel-like quality of the glass and how it could be manipulated.

Wishing to share my subject I began teaching stained glass and multi media art at local colleges and health care facilities.  I obtained a Cert Ed in Adult and Further Education in 2001 and a Diploma in Transformative Art Therapy in 2004.  Whilst teaching I continued to develop my artistic and technical skills in stained glass. Much of what I have learned has been self taught over the years.

I now devote most of my time to my commission work and personal art. I also teach small groups and workshops on stained glass locally.
