This commission gave me the perfect opportunity to indulge in my love of the exotic and vibrant colour.
My clients wanted some thing really stunning and flamboyant to fill two arched alcoves in their lounge. The two panels would be illuminated by LED lights with variable settings which meant that I could use strong colours which might otherwise have been too intense to allow enough natural light into the space.
Their home is a bohemian Aladdin’s cave full of decorative art and antiques. I wanted to create two pieces that would reflect their idiosyncratic sense of style.
The panels are of a decadent oriental theme. The Butterfly dancer was inspired by the movements and costume of Javanese dancers, and the second panel by the sensual mystique of the Japanese Geisha.
