“TRIPLE HARE IRELAND”
The inspiration for this panel came to me through my clients in Ballydehob, West Cork Ireland. The design is based on the Triple Hare, an ancient archetype of spiritual significance.
The earliest known examples can be found in Buddhist cave temples in China (581-618 CE); form where it then spread along the Silk Road, through the Middle East, through Hungary, Poland, Germany, Switzerland and the British Isles.
It has been represented in many forms; stained glass, wood and stone carvings, ceramics, textiles, print and paint. It was a challenge and a joy to design and create my own version incorporating all of the elements that my clients desired within a 20 inch diameter.

Much research has been done on the phenomena of this recurring motif. In “The Three Hares Project” which can be found on line, Chris Chapman explores and documents this extraordinary symbol in great depth.
